The Input Mode defines the nature of the channel inputs: single-ended or differential signals. Therefore, the Input Mode must be selected first and is the left-most control in the Setup ToolBar.
Single-ended and differential modes both require ground inputs to be connected to the test circuit.
Ground channels are not affected by the input mode.
When Single-ended mode is selected, each channel input captures a separate signal.
A 72-channel model logic analyzer captures up to 72 signals in each trace capture.
A 36-channel model logic analyzer captures up to 36 signals in each trace capture.
When Differential mode is selected, adjacent even/odd channel inputs are combined to capture one signal-pair.
A 72-channel model logic analyzer can capture up to 36 differential signals in each trace capture.
A 36-channel model logic analyzer can capture up to 18 differential signals in each trace capture.
Even channels are paired with an adjacent odd channels. For example, channel A00 is paired with A01 to capture a differential signal-pair.
Even channels are the diff-negative (-) input in each signal pair. The odd channels are the diff-positive (+) inputs.
Since two channels are required to capture each signal-pair, differential mode halves the available channels. For example, a 72-channel logic analyzer can capture 36 differential signals.
Only the even channel numbers appear in the GoLogic7 software. The odd channels are ignored and cannot be used for triggers or display.
Combined channel-pairs which are adjacent are treated as if no channels are skipped. This allows range triggers to be used with the differential input mode.
For example the A0/A1 pair is adjacent to the A2/A3 pair. If the channel group contains A00,A02,A04,etc a range trigger can be used.
If the group skips a channel and contains "A00,A04,A06,etc", then range triggers cannot be associated with that group.
