Many CPUs = Fast Display Speed
The GoLogic7 software uses parallel processing to display the timing diagrams in the WaveForm view. Rather than process millions of samples with a single CPU, the software divides this task among all the available CPUs. Each CPU only processes a fraction of the visible trace capture.
If the average 4-core to 8-core CPU is adequate, then 16-cores will be great, and 32-cores will be even faster (but is not required!). The NCI logic analyzer software supports up to 32 physical cores each executing 2 thread (64 “threads” total).
The image below shows how 64 threads divide the WaveForm display into tiny sections. Each thread only process’s about 24 pixels. Since all threads run at the same time, the update time is about 1/64th the time for one thread. This feature makes a huge performance difference in the WaveForm display. Zooming and scrolling is significantly faster.
