Bus Type: UART

Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART)

Decodes any baud-based signal using start and stop bits into parallel values.

Chan

Select the channel connected to the raw bus signal.

Warning: DO NOT create duplicate Channel Groups for the serial bus signals! The GoLogic7 software automatically creates a hidden channel group for each signal in the serial bus. If needed, these hidden channel groups can be used to trigger or display the raw signals in the data views.

When project files are opened, the GoLogic7 software automatically deletes channel groups which duplicate the serial bus channels. This avoid potential conflicts between the channel groups and the serial bus definitions.

Logic

Select the raw signal's logic type: Normal or Inverted.

  Logic: Normal
The raw signal is inactive-high between packets.

  Logic: Inverted
The raw signal is inactive-low between packets.

Width

Enter the data value width: 2 to 64 bits.

Parity

Select the parity bit: none, even, odd, mark, or space.

Stop-Bits

Select the stop bits per packet: 0, 1, or 2

Invert Data

Inverts the data values.

Bit-Order

Select the bit-order: LSB or MSB arrives first.

Bit Coding

Select the bit coding: NRZ-Level, NRZ-Inverted, or NRZ-Space.

Force Sync at trace start if no break found.

When checked, the decoding syncs at the trace start when no break period is found in the entire trace capture. Normally, the decoding finds a break period between packets somewhere in the trace capture and syncs to that first packet.

Note: a UART "break period" is defined as an inactive period lasting at least one full packet width. This time depends on the data width, parity, and stop bit count.

Baud

Enter the baud rate. This value is the inverse of the bit time.

Bit Time

Enter the elapsed time for each bit. This value is the inverse of the baud rate.

Protocol

The UART is a generic bus with no protocol. The Protocol List allows a Custom Protocol to be applied to the bus data.
